About
Akira Talaba is a filmmaker, multi-media artist, and musician based in New York City.
Originally from Eugene, Oregon, Akira got his start in filmmaking at a very early age, competing in film
festivals at the age of 10 and writing/directing his first feature film
before graduating high school. The Boy Who Never Tangoed, his
debut feature, which was co-written/directed with Mike Brown, received
awards and acclaim from festivals across the west coast. Since the film released theatrically in 2024, he’s gone on to write, direct, shoot, and edit a variety of short films, music videos, and commerical content, as well as release several music projects.
In 2025, he founded ‘ZAP! Factory’, a brand that produces art across all mediums.
